Gifts and samples canceled

I just received notification that my free gift with am expensive perfume purchase was canceled....no offer to replace with a similar or higher priced item, nothing. I chose that perfume specifically for the free gift. 

Sadly, this is far from the first time my free gifts with purchase or preferred samples have been canceled, with no amends at all. 

Sephora, I have VERY little (like, no) disposable income, and the brands loyalty I have for Sephora is unparalleled. I lost my job of a decade, my house burned down, then broken into three times, when I say that the purchases I make on Sephora are extremely important and keep me sane, I mean it. And these cancellations do the opposite. 

And I placed another order before I noticed the cancellation email, so now I'm just nervously waiting to see what will be canceled from this order. 

Is there anything you can do to help, at least with the free gift I expected? Any help would be appreciated.
