Gift card scam

Do not purchase online gift cards!  I did and had it shipped to someone. When the recipient called to see the balance (oops I forgot to tell her the value), the card balance was zero.  This has to be an insider job; the card arrived yesterday and at 12:18am this am the card was magically fully used.  Customer service was useless and just said, oh well, it is like cash.  I said you have been hacked and don't seem to care.   I used my Sephora Credit card, it will be interesting to see if the dispute on the cost of gift card is successful.  If not, this Rouge Level customer will be a former one.
