Gift card balance disappeared

I loaded a $200 gift card onto my account back in jan 2025. I added some stuff to my cart but never bought anything. I signed in today to do some shopping and the balance of the gift card is gone and my cart is empty. I was told nothing can be done as i dont have the physical card anymore. This is a common problem and sephora doesn't seem to do anything about it. Meanwhile they are making money off of this "glitch" in their website. I am going to contact the BBB about this.

@jodo0311 I'm sorry for the confusion! We don't have an area to load gift cards onto for saving, at this time. If you added it to your basket at checkout, the basket will at some point reset and we would be unable to retrieve the gift card. If you have a receipt with the first 12 digits, we may be able to locate it in our system.

I do not have a receipt. The gift card balance shows up on the account when you add it so it is assumed it is loaded. This is not an isolated incident. When I google this issue it appears it has been going on for quite some time now and sephora does nothing about it other than to tell people their website doesn't store the information and they are SOOL. Seems sephora is making out quite well on this. Wouldn't you think a warning to users would be the minimal thing you could do to let them know that the gift card number and pin that appears to be loaded onto the account they signed into will disappear?
