Gift Card numbers gone

hello I was trying to get the sticker off my gift card to see the numbers for my birthday and the numbers ripped off I didn’t realized the card was made out of paper and tried to fix it but it broke what can I do it was 25 dollars

Re: Gift Card numbers gone

Add me to the list!!!  It is pretty clear this is a scam by sephora to steal money!!!

Re: Gift Card numbers gone

Mine too. I've been dealing with this since Christmas.  I refuse to throw $100 away and every customer service rep gives me a different answer.  The cashier removed the sticker that covered the account number and pin and when it was removed some of the numbers from the account and pin were removed.  The first rep said the cashier should swipe the card instead of manually typing it in, but apparently Sephora locations inside Kohls cannot swipe gift cards.  The rep then says to go to stand alone Sephora, which is 30 minutes from me in good traffic,  and is why I didn't go to that location first.  I get to that location and the cashier there told me that they can swipe the card but would need to manually key in the pin number.  Another cashier joined her and they attempted to try to read the removed numbers.  The 2nd cashier took the card somewhere and returned and handed the card back to me and said "your card says invalid" and walked away. No explanation to what that meant was given to me. After that I stopped trying for a while but about a month later I called customer service again to ask for the number to LGCS, inc who the card is issued by. She didn't know who I was referring to. I hung up and called back and asked the same question.  This rep didn't know either.  I believe I then went to Sephora.com and chatted with a rep who tried helping but in the end my issue is still not resolved.  I'm clearly not the only person that is in this predicament and I am thinking about contacting and attorney.  This is theft. The manufacturer of this gift card created a faulty design.  Someone needs to be held responsible and I refuse to accept that there's nothing that can be done. Sephora,  you should have information on what can be done if this incident happens,  even if it's a number to LGCS, inc, or to whoever can assist.  The person that gave me the gift card worked hard for the $100 to buy this gift card. Think about that. There is a human aspect that is constantly ignored.  I intend to do something about that.

Re: Gift Card numbers gone

Just had this happen to me as well--very maddening. Take off the sticker that is covering the number and it rips off numbers of both the card # and pin #.  Can't get it to work.  Birthday gift of $60 unused and wasted money because of their design flaw. Bet this happens almost 100% of the time with these gift cards. It is corporate stealing of their customers.

Re: Gift Card numbers gone

Hi there - I am dealing with the same issue. If there is a resolution to be applied, I'd like to be assisted as well. I've had a similar experience - tried to resolve via chat, in-store and chat again. All I'm being told is that Sephora is not responsible for damage to gift cards which is really disappointing since I didn't misuse or abuse the item. I simply tried to use it but the production of the card is flawed.

Re: Gift Card numbers gone

@AT126 I'm sorry to hear that! You would need the gift card number and pin to use it online, but you should be able to scan or swipe it in store.

Re: Gift Card numbers gone

I brought the card in-store, but when they swiped it the card would not register. Again - seems like an issue with the manufacturing of the card so it's disappointing to be penalized for that. This card is also produced by the same manufacturer as the previous customer who raised this issue: LGCS Inc.

Re: Gift Card numbers gone

Hi @shannonandcate,

I'm sorry to hear this and I'm happy to take a look further. I'll send you a message.

Best,

Laurie

Re: Gift Card numbers gone

@jojobublik oh no! In order to redeem the gift card online, you would need the full gift card number and pin number. You should still be able to redeem it in store as the store just needs to scan the gift card.

Re: Gift Card numbers gone

The store said they need the pin number in my case. They also said my gift card won't scan
