Gift Card Scam

I was given a $100 gift card for my birthday. I only used it once and was excited to use the remaining balance on items I needed. Turns out, my remaining balance was drained out. The person who gifted me the card got it from a fresh new batch of cards from the Sephora stockroom to avoid any fraudulent activity. Yet, it still happened. 
I didn’t input the cards information online or on the app for hackers to use, but I still scammed. I’m frustrated and was left irritated with the customer service experience I had trying to obtain any information regarding the fraudulent charge. I’m even more frustrated after seeing that this is a common issue with Sephora gift cards and the brand has not done anything to try to avoid these issues in the future. 
Please try to steer away from buying gift cards.

This happened to me almost exactly to the T….same MOD contacted me to send her the pics of the card. Is something going on within Sephora? Inside job? What’s happening? Has anyone else contacted you??

Something is definitely going on, Sephora needs to do something about this. Clearly they don’t care about the customer experience if they are allowing these scams to continue happening. People are loosing their hard earned money. 
I contacted them and it’s been a constant back and forth struggle. Frustrating that they can see the fraudulent transaction but can’t do anything to cancel them. I love Sephora but this experience has made me feel differently about the brand. I’m for sure never buying gift cards from the brand and will advise friends/family to stay away from them. 
I was left irritated and sad after speaking with customer service, hopefully you have a different experience.
