Gift Card SCAM

Can we keep posting to Sephora until they fix their flawed gift card system. You'd stop selling your gift cards in third party stores if you cared about your customer base, which is mostly young females. So sad

I bought two gift cards for my girls at $25 each from Walgreens and neither one worked. The thing is the employees at Sephora know this is happening but Sephora won’t do anything to rectify this. I will never give them my business again. There are way too many complaints on here about this scam

Same thing just happened to me. 2 different cards "already used online" $100 value were not scratched off/no pin exposed. Sephora said there is nothing they can do. This needs to be stopped. Seems like an inside job to me.

I just experienced the same type of scam, and am highly disappointed in Sephora's customer service. Received a $25 gift card for Christmas and went to use it the next day in the store. The Sephora sales associate herself scratched off the pin and $0 balance. She said it was a common issue and that she should call customer service to sort it out. They were no help, wouldn't even look up that card, and told me it was a lost cause. I will never be buying Sephora gift cards again and warning others of cards purchased in grocery stores!

If you look up my previous posts I have the name of an attorney who is willing to take the case for a class action lawsuit. This is one that is ripe for whomever will take it. All of us who have been scammed!!  Boycott Sephora!!

I can't PM you, it gives me an error code. I want to be involved in the lawsuit. It's happened to me too. I'm in Canada.

I have the same issue. I got 2- 50$ giftcards on march 16th and both were hacked into on April 3rd and had online charges , few in canadian dollars and the balance was 00. But couldnt get any more information from the customer service. Sephora doesnt care about the scam thats going on, they are not even ready to investigate or open a case on it

 . PLEASE DO NOT BUY or GIFT SEPHORA GIFT CARDS. Their system is not secure & dont have any controls.

This just happened to me today. I purchased $100 gift card from a CVS for my little sister when she tried to use it at the store, they told her there was a zero balance. I have access to her account online and I was able to check and confirm that she did not use it online. I called Sephora and they were able to tell me that the card was used times in one day online but couldn’t tell me the account the purchases were tied too. My bank refuses to reimburse me too.

I’m fighting with my credit card company now. They are basically saying once the giftcard is used they can’t help. I’m now fighting with the scam department in the credit card company.

I was on a chat with customer service today about my gift cards!!! My mom bought them from a physical Sephora store, $100 on 3 cards for my birthday and 2/3 of them had a $0 balance! I had the gift receipt and did not use them.

All they were able to tell me was that someone else had used the cards multiple times and there was nothing they could do for me other than tell my mom to dispute the charges with her bank. So disappointing.

oh wow that is so frustrating! I am sorry you are going through that! I've heard of a scam where people take pictures of gift cards at the stores (mostly 3rd party stores) and try using them every day until someone purchases them. I've heard of of other stores like Amazon experiencing the same thing with their gift cards. Try (if possible) to only buy your gift cards online and as close as possible to giving the gift. This is unfortunately the world we live in now
