Gift Card Refund

I placed an order, but decided to cancel it because I forgot to add something. I had a gift card of $100 and I used it to place the original order. It said that my order was canceled, but I never got a confirmation email that said it was canceled. When I went to place my new order, my gift card didn't work. I was confused because my order was canceled yet the gift card doesnt work anymore. Please help me understand when and how my gift card will be refunded.
