Gift Card Issue

I got a gift card for my birthday, the lady at Sephora scratched the last 3 numbers so it was incapable of seeing the phone complete numbers, so payment was declined. I called the 800 number in the back of the card and they mentioned they could not help me. I was given another 888-362-6376 number, I called that number and the representative mentioned that with the first 12 numbers on the card should be enough for them to check at the other 800 number in the back of the card. I called and they were able to check the balance, but was not able to provide me with the information. THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!!!! its not the amount of card that matters but the fact that I cannot redeem my gift due to an error that was made by the sephora cashier.
