Gift Card Fraud

I was given a $65 gift card for my birthday not more than 2 days ago and when I added it to my account the money was there. I didn't make a purchase at the time, but when I went back one day later the money was completely gone. The card was not scratched off and when I mistakenly put the number underneath the bar code when I tried to activate it, it didn't work, which leads me to believe that anyone trying to use it would need to scratch it off to use.  I called sephora and spoke to several people including the floor manager named Jessica, who was able to (despite every other person saying they couldn't) pull up the card information, confirm that a purchase was made online from a completely different account, and could see the time and what the order contained. It doesn't make sense to me that an online purchase was able to be made with my gift card that I myself couldn't use until I scratched it off. On top of that, I received no solution and all anyone could say was that they do not replace stolen gift cards because they are treated as cash. I would completely understand, if the gift card was out of my possesion, but you would think that if they can clearly see the transaction was made from a different sephora account and can most likely see a completely different address for delivery, that there would be something they could do. I could go to the store and hand in the gift card to prove I actually had it, they could have canceled the order and refunded the money back to the gift card and I could have used it before it got stolen again if they assisted with the ordering process. Something could have been done especially if the order was placed at 7:30 online and I was calling a little after 9, so the order had not even been fulfilled. Very disappointing and seems like this is a common thing.
