Gift Card Data Security

I have had this gift Card for years. I revealed the pin yesterday to check the balance through the app and it was 25$ at 10 am. The gift Card was in my office all day with me. I went to use it at midnight and the balance was 0$. When I called support they said it was emptied at 4pm and when I said I wanted to report the data security breach they wouldn't let me?

The only thing I ever did with that card was check the balance on the app, so someone is skimming the gift card info when you check the balance in the app. 

And if they have access to the gift cards, they can probably get at saved card info too.
