Friends & Family referrals?

Ok, this may be nothing but it seemed odd to me.

Someone came onto another website I frequent stating that the F&F event will be October 14-21.

Then said that they personally have the codes for Beauty Insiders and that in order to get the codes people need to PM them with their email addresses and that "Once I enter your email address, you will get an email from Sephora with the code on 10/14."

and that:

"I have unlimited quantities, so please feel free to send me a list of all emails. "

Now this strikes me as odd because, as beauty insiders, Sephora already has our email addresses and sends the codes directly every year. This strikes me as a way to phish for email addresses of active BI accounts that might have payment methods attached to their account. 

So am I correct in that this is some sort of scam, or is there some sort of bizarre referral system being used this year? The individual has a somewhat long standing, semi-active account on the site. But it seems off to me.

It’s true. Each employee is given like ten discount cards to share and they can enter your email to give you their personal friends and family code. I worked there for 4 years we did it every year. Don’t worry. Because it’s friends and family it only goes to friends and family. Not every Beauty insider gets it which is why employees have to enter their friends and family’s email addresses. A lot of stores do it,

But if its a limited number of codes that employees get and only goes to friends & family, would it a bit suspect that they're saying they have an unlimited number of codes and that they're asking for random people's emails and saying they're welcome to send them a list of Beauty Insider email addresses and that all will get the code?

Okay so they get only a stack of physical coupons with codes but when they’re at work they log onto their Sephora account and they can type in emails and it will send those people a code to use online. They can email it to as many people as they want. As long as this person is an actual Sephora employee it’s legit. My friends that still work there just put my email in the other day.
