Followed around store

I was shopping at Sephora the other day because I had gotten a gift card for my birthday. I usually go to Ulta because I really don't like Sephora but I had forgotten why so I went anyway. I was planning on browsing for a while and looking around testing things and then buying a sample because that's all I has money for. I started to notice that the employees were following me around the store. I tried to rub the feeling but then I was bombarded with employees trying to help me. I told them I was just browsing and they did not let up. One man came up to me and without asking did a sample on my face and said that it looked great because it was a tinted moisturizer and it was nothing. Then, he grabbed a basket threw in the moisturizer and asked if I would like to check out. I told him that I was still browsing and that I was not ready to head out. Something similar happened every five minutes and I really just wanted to leave. I started to head out and an employee pulled me aside and said I was shoplifting.  I  told her I was not and she grabbed my purse searched it and asked me to remove everything from my pockets. when she couldn't find anything she didn't even apologize she just sent me out. I will never be going to a Sephora again and am very offended.

Re: Followed around store

Hi Juulia123,

You are not alone.  I was in the Sephora store today in West Hartford, CT and I was literally asked by 4 people if I “needed help.” Here is the issue, I actually needed help but then they didn’t help me!  I was looking for a certain color lipstick for kat von d in their drawer, and when the girl came over and asked, I said “yes I need help, I need this color in the lipstick and not lip gloss” and she said “ok,” kicked the drawer closed right in front of me, walked away and didn’t return.  I literally waited for 10 minutes like an idiot.  I finally walked away and guess what, another girl came and asked me if I needed help and I said “yes, I need this color in lipstick” and she checked in the drawer and said we don’t have it.  So finally I walked away again to the concealers and another girl came and asked me for help and I said “yes I need help with concealer color” and then she said “I can’t help you since I am greeting at the front but I will call someone.” I was thinking “then why did she come over?” So finally a guy in the store came up to me and asked me if I needed help and I said “yes I need help with color for concealer.” He helped me through the whole process.  Finally some decent customer service that wasn’t actually a racially motivated intimidation tactic!  Hey Sephora, tell me why 4 people asked me for help, but only 1 actually helped me and meant it?  Not sure if that 1 hour of “diversity training” held in June was enough.

Followed around store

I'm so sorry that happened to you. I hope Sephora's customer service replies to you. Maybe you could also call the store and speak to a manager.
