Excuse me but what is this?

I picked the YSL tatouage couture matte stain sample for my just-received order - I wanted to try it so bad especially the shade N16 “Nude Emblem”. And here is what’s inside those squares: some grayish black...stuff. I tried to stir the colors with that little spatula applicator thing, and more black stuff just came to the surface. Have a look of that Fuschia color as well please. I’m not sure if it’s pigment separation or something that happened due to the weather, but I’m disappointed. Since last time a Sephora employee placed somebody else’s order under my account & used my store credit & not able to refund me (it’s another frustration), this weird dynamic kinda started to going between me and my favorite store - why Sephora?? I’m reluctant to try lip products at store as I’m concerned with the hygiene issue. I want to be able to rely on samples, but what happened is just disappointing.

@Snowe524 yikes!! I, too, have received samples like that!! super disgusting. i hope they fixed this for you!!

I got a DM from them saying while they are not able to resend the sample, they’ve let Sephora know about this issue and will give me some extra perk points. I then asked if they could please let me know what the black stuff was should there be any update, and I was told there’s no further information as of right now. I guess just a mystery unsolved...
