Exception status on Order

I have been tracking my order all day and my package was set to deliver by 9 PM tonight. I just arrived home however and realized that my package says ‘Exception’ as it’s delivery status. I’m not sure what this means, but I am very confused and disappointed that my order has not arrived at the time it was promised. I’m looking for assistance with this issue as the shipping activity stated that my package was out for delivery this morning.
