Empty Gift Card Balance!?

I was gifted a Sephora gift card of $100 for Christmas and I was hoping to save it for when I needed to restock my must-haves or when I found something new I wanted to try but when I checked it today to make a purchase, I found that it has a $0.00 balance! How could that be? The gift card is brand new and I haven't used it to purchase anything and I did not lose it either! What is happening? 😞
