Email says Back In Stock but site says still out!!

Hi and h🥳 appy new! I have gotten emails three separate times over the past week saying an item was back in stock. However, it still shows out of stock! I have checked for the item immediately upon receiving email in one case, 30 minutes in another (and that one said sephora doesn’t carry the product when I checked) and 5 hours on the third item- none of them were in stock!! What’s going on??? Thanks! Sara

Hi @Leaskywalker, sorry about that! It's possible that the items only came back in a very limited quantity, so they sold out very quickly again. I'll be sure to forward your feedback regarding this issue along to the appropriate contacts within our organization for review as well.

Back in stock emails are notoriously unreliable, as you have discovered. I think emails don't get sent until several hours after an item is restocked, and if it's a small quantity, folks are finding and buying it before emails go out, running it back OOS. 

 

Also, there seems to be a glitch in Sephora system where emails get sent when Sephora removes a product from the site, which is likely what happened to the item you found that now says item not carried.

 

If by chance any of your items are sale stuff, there likely wasn't even a restock to begin with...it was more likely that there was some sort of inventory adjustment where just a couple were added from cancelled orders or other "found inventory", and new stock was a myth. While some sale stuff does get restocked, it's less common than with full price items.

 

I stopped signing up for emails, and just add stuff to my loves list now...I can watch it from there if I'm really wanting something.
