Do I get points for buying gift cards ?

Hey all 

I just bought a gift card for a friend and sent it via email.   

The points have not shown up in my account.  

Do we not get them for gift cards?

I think it's such crap that you don't get points for buying a gift card. I bought my sister a GC for Sephora so I should have got points because I spent money at Sephora which it says "points for every dollar spent at Sephora" not points for every product bought.

Exactly but that's so dumb like I said it says points for money spent. Also now my sister gets points when I reality she didn't spend money I did. I should receive MY POINTS for MY MONEY SPENT.
