Defective Gift Card

This seems to be an ongoing problem with Sephora.  If anyone has found a solution, I would be grateful!  I have a 50$ giftcard and when I scratched off gently with my fingernail to reveal the numbers, several numbers came off as well.  I have basically been told to pound sand in store and by sephora customer service.  I have the proof of purchase and everything.  It is really frustrating that Sephora sells defective gift cards and then refuses to honor them.  Has anyone found a solution?

Hi @steph0406, I'm sorry to hear about this experience! In this case, I recommend calling the phone number on the back of the card to learn if they're able to further assist with providing the card details.

Yeah I have and that continues to be the problem. Whoever you talk to says that they can’t do anything about damaged gift cards without acknowledging that it is Sephora that is selling defective cards that they they refuse to honor. And that is after they confirm that the card is in fact active. Even though they can look up the GC numbers that were scratched off, they refuse to provide them so the card can be used. TBH I wonder if Sephora sells defective gift cards purposely knowing that we will pay for the card but then they cannot ultimately redeemed.
