Credit card Scam

I bought 2 Sephora gifts cards to give ad gifts on 07/27.  They were both birthday presents. The first one I gave to my sister and when she tried to use at the Sephora store 1 week later they told her it had a 0 balance. I had the other gift & decided I better check at the store if this was okay. But it also had a 0 balance.

I explain to the girls these have never been used but why do I have a 0 balance on both cards.
turns out they are aware of this scam but continue to sell the gift cards.

the girls were helpful & told me to call # ion the back of card.. I called the next day & after explaining the whole situation customer service informed me there was nothing they can do. I asked to speak to the supervisor. The supervisor was very rude & said it was out of her hands. There is nothing they can do and it was my lost. Again I said if you know there is scam why do you continue to sell the gift cards. No response & then she said call the Federal Trade Commission. Or call my bank & see if they’ll reimburse me the money.

i callled Kohl’s where I bought the gift cards at the Sephora store and they were more helpful then the people at Sephora. They said they are going to make a complaint.

I turned around & called Sephora again to get more info. Turns out someone in Florida did some online shopping with these cars. They test them first buying something small and then goes for the rest of the money on the card. This was done on both cards. This made me think that this had to be an inside job. Someone who works for Sephora or the card distributor.

I will not go down without a fight. Going to write a letter to our local television news. Go to the Better Business Bureau. Federal Trade Commission, instagram & Facebook to tell people beware. Do not buy Sephora Gift Cards. They are aware of a Gift Card Scam & still selling the cards.  Like I said, I will not go down. I will fight till I get my money back. I will be their worst nightmare.

Hi @Zoezoe13,

I'm sorry to hear this! If you would like to send me a private message with more details, I'll be happy to look into this further. Alternatively, you can contact our live chat at https://www.sephora.com/beauty/contact-us or call 1-877-SEPHORA (1-877-737-4672) where an agent can assist. If the chat page says it's unavailable, you may need to keep the page open for a few minutes until the next agent becomes available. Thank you!

Best regards,

Re: Credit card Scam

I have called the that Sephora # twice & both times they told me there was nothing they can do. It was my lost  cause I bought at Kohl’s and it’s like A 3rd party.

What makes me mad is that I’m a senior citizen on a fixed income. I try my best to buy birthday gifts for family. I put a little money aside so I can do this. So this was devastating to me when they told me it was my lost. I got better treatment too from the outsource then the customer service employees.

what gets me is why are they still selling them at the stores if they know they have a problem. The consumers are getting screwed. I have the cards, the receipts everything & only to find out the person who scammed me was from Florida & bought things online 2 days later. I was so embarrass and my sister was embarrass when she tried to use it.

I don’t think you can help me. To be honest I think you want to look helpful to the customers who read the customer complaints. I hope a lawsuit comes out of this so that no one else gets ripped off. I will never ever shop at Sephora again.
