Complaint

I’m sorry, but I have to tell you this. Yesterday I went to one of the shops of Sephora and bought a facial cleanser and a foundation which summed up to $56.62. So my mom handed out a 100 dollar note and the change was supposed to be $43.38. The salesperson handed out 23 dollars (a 20 dollar note and 3 one-dollar notes). So I took the money and stepped aside, not away, from the counter so that the next person could pay for their products. I checked the amount she gave me and found that a 20 dollar note was missing. So I told her that she gave me 20 dollars less so she took my receipt and called her manager. She told me to wait. I thought it was weird because why would she call her manager when she’s the one who gave me less. Okay fine, I guess that’s the way it is. But, when the manager came in from the staff room, she accused me of putting the 20 dollar bill in my bag and told that the salesperson counted it correctly. I’ve never been in a situation like this before and I don’t expect to get the 20 dollars back. But I just don’t get it why they accused me of putting the money in my bag!!!! People can make mistakes and they should learn how to handle it properly. Being dishonest isn’t the solution. I got angry. I had my friend with me as well whom I met after a really long time and this made me very sad. Since I’m not from the US, 20 dollars was a lot for me. When my mom asked if she could watch the CCTV footage, they said they couldn’t show it us. I asked her back how I could trust her, she didn’t reply. Then another salesperson came in and again accused us of that thing and told us to leave the shop. I never expected such behaviour from them. I know I should’ve tried to call the police but the situation made us all very mad and uncomfortable. This is just a complaint that you should really watch out for your employees so that they don’t steal. This happened at the Sephora Skyview Center at Flushing, New York. Please train your employees and make the customer service better. I don’t expect to get my money back, I just felt like I was discriminated because we had our hijabs on. They didn’t feel like they needed to handle the situation like a professional and instead talked very rudely. I don’t even think the checked the footage. If the money ends up in your cash register, this of it as a donation to your foundation so that you can improve things around, and if the money ends up in the salesperson’s pocket, I’ll just think of giving money to a beggar. So please, I hope this complaint gets to you. Thank you.
