Color i.q

I had went to the sephora and got color matches but she never got a chance to show me how to use it on the website. I figured out how to save my number to the account but i still don't know how to show my foundation and concealer matches.

Re: Color i.q

If you type in your color IQ number into the search box up top (3Y07 for me), a list of "matching" foundations and concealers will pop up. I say "matching" because it's not so much an absolute perfect match, but rather foundation colors that fall within the range of your color IQ profile. The results will be a mix of concealers, foundations, powders, tinted moisturizers, etc. that have similar pigmentation/undertone that correspond with your color IQ. Some foundation colors will show up for more than one color IQ number because it's a range.

The color IQ is a good starting point to try out different foundations, but actual swatch testing on your neck/face will still yield the best match 🙂 Happy hunting!

Re: Color i.q

Go to the search bar on Sephora.com, and enter your color iq number. The search results will show all brands that have a match in your color, and when you click on a particular product, the color that matches your iq number will already be selected for you. HTH!

@jessi30

So i searched my number, which is 5y04 and the foundation...

So i searched my number, which is 5y04 and the foundation that the artist matched me with did not come up with that color. It came up when I entered 4y01. So which one is more likely to be a better choice?

Re: So i searched my number, which is 5y04 and the foundation...

@jessi30 The Color IQ is really just a guide, a tool to help you figure out possible matches. It isn't exact.

The beginning number and letter indicate your undertones - so 5Y is slightly warmer than 4Y. The last two numbers indicate depth - so 01 is the lightest possible shade, and 04 is slightly darker.

Sometimes it helps to see the Pantone Shade Library - you'll see that 01 is the lightest possible shade, and 5Y is the warmest possible undertone on the spectrum. This means that 5Y04 is darker and warmer than 4Y01.

Are you satisfied with the foundation match the artist gave you? If so, I'd stick with that one, and use 4Y01 as your starting point.

As others mentioned, you can use the search bar on Sephora to find your matches. But you can also use the Color IQ page:
