Card never works in Kohls

Every time I go to kohls to make a purchase I’m embarrassed by this card being denied multiple times when I know there’s credit on it because my balance is zero. This is ridiculous and making me not want to even shop there anymore at all. Not to mention due to this issue I went to return an item and they couldn’t find it since it was on another card(even though it was on my Sephora account) I would’ve had to drive another hour to return it (at an actual store) so I was stuck with a product I didn’t even want since they wouldn’t do the return at the Sephora in Kohls.
