Can I use the same promo code after returning the original order I used it on?

I accidentally ordered something that I am going to return (unopened) and I used a promo code on it. I haven't returned it yet because I need to ship it back but I would like to place an order for something else and use the same promo code I used on the first purchase I plan on returning. Sephora however will not let me use the code again. Is this something I can ask customer service about or should I just accept I made a mistake the first time?

Thank you framboiseanais! I did the same thing and was hoping if I returned the item, which of course would return the points that the promo code was for, that I’d be able to purchase something I wanted more and use the same code again to redeem the 500 points on more coveted items. Before I made my purchase I looked to see what exclusions and terms applied. Unfortunately no where on the block that had the code, did it say one time use and no terms were there or anywhere that I could find in fine print so I thought I could take advantage of the sale daily and redeem 500 extra bonus points daily too. I should have known it was one time use, but I think it would have been smart on Sephora's part to make it a daily redeem as myself and others would have likely ended up spending thousands taking advantage of each new sale for that day to retrieve those points. In fact since the sale yesterday was for a brand I wasn’t much interested in I spent the least amount I would have during these sale days. Safe to say Sephora did me a favour in not making it clear that it was a one time use, as yesterday I only spent $117 and change and today would have been $275.44. Needless to say I’m not buying now and this was likely a blessing for me as the sale is 10-14 days long and I certainly would have incurred credit card debt at that point. Anyway thank you for asking this question so I didn’t have to!
