Can I return an in store Sephora purchase to a JCP Sephora?

I bought something inside a free standing Sephora out of the way. I got home and saw it was the wrong shade. The JCP doesn't carry the item but it's close by. Can I return the item to the JCP Sephora? I still have the store receipt.

You can, however, your return will be tagged as an unreceipted return at JCP even though you have your receipt. You will most likely not be advised of this, you also will not be told it will be tracked by a third party retail theft (monitoring) company and your transaction will be added to this  "naughty list" and marked against you at JCP and JCP Sephora.  Personally, I now return products to the store I purchased them from to avoid the entire mess.  These are the things you do not find out until something nasty happens to you. I will leave it at that.  My advice, take it back to the type of store you purchased from; Sephora (free-standing) or inside JCP as they operate as two distinctly separate entities.

No they do not- the other day I tried to return something for less than $10 (unopened) because I changed my mind, WITH a receipt. The Sephora JCP employees said I could return it but they needed a copy of my ID and warned me that I could be banned from Sephora. They processed the return as a ‘return without receipt’ DESPITE having the receipt right infront of them. I should’ve just inconvenienced myself and driven 30+ mins back to the Sephora main store. Sephora inside JCP is a joke. I will never shop there, no matter how close they are to me. Always shop the main store.

Hi! I tried to return a product I purchased from a JCP Sephora to a free standing Sephora and was told they only could return as a merchandise credit and could not return back to the card I used! Why was this I was very upset

I called the JCP and they said that because their jcp store doesnt carry the item, they wouldn't be able to return it at their store. Is this true?

No, it is not true, they can accept the return, however, they will tag it as unreceipted and will not tell you this and you will be added to a third party list that tracks retail theft.

Sephora inside JCPenney locations are able to accept returns from items originally purchased at freestanding stores and online as long as they are within the return policy time frames. That is not true. I spoke with the other sephora person in PM's and they confirmed you can NOT return to JCPenney sephora anything you buy online.

The JC Penney associate inside Sephora at Penn Square in Oklahoma City also told me in person very rudely that they do not accept returns from purchases made from Sephora stores.
