Brushing me off

I posted this earlier today.  It was either not fully read, as I asked a question (regarding if the information the sales associate said was accurate or if the website was), which was the basis of me posting and did not receive an answer in the reply, or it was read and brushed off that they'll pass on my concern.

This week I went to the Polo Park location in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada.  I asked if I could try a sample of a skin care product at home before I purchased a large bottle which is well over $120.

The sales associate said, "unfortunately we don't do samples anymore since covid but you can try the face sample on your hand".  I informed her that I believed I saw on Sephoras website that you can go into stores and ask a sales associate to trial a product in Canada.  She said this was untrue and if it was true her manager would have let them know.  She said I can purchase the product and return it if I try it and it doesn't work.

......So Sephora would rather risk losing sales-destroying products and continue racking up "Try Me On Your Hand" products...... instead of letting customers try a take home sample from the existing "try me" container?  There's no logic in that from a business stand point.  There's also no logic in using covid as an excuse where everyone can stick their hands in the jar but for some reason covid may happen if we make a sample to take home???

I'd just like to know who is correct.  The store or the website.  If someone who is familiar with the Canadian stores could respond that would be appreciated.

side note: This store never has pre packaged samples available at checkout of anything.  I obviously would have concern that employees are taking advantage of this at the customers expense.  Also I've noticed it several times online that samples arnt sent.  Sephora needs better safe guards in place in their shipping standards.

Thank you

Respectfully, if you're a Sephora app employee who can't answer my question regarding if "Try Me at home Not on Your Hand" samples are permitted as per website vs store manager then please do not reply.
