Birthday Gifts never available

My birthday is in October and I have not been able to redeem a birthday gift for the past few years now. I go to multiple locations and they never have any of the options available so I always end up getting the points. Today I went to Sephora and redeemed points because they didn't have the gifts so I wanted to redeem one of the beauty insider rewards. They also didn't have any rewards in stock! It seems like my only option is to spend $25 and redeem a reward but it feels wrong to now have to pay to get a reward which is supposed to be free. 

I chatted with a "live agent" who I'm pretty sure was an AI bot and was not helpful at all. I'm hoping to change my birthday to something earlier in the year because I'm tired of redeeming points and not being able to get a single reward.

@emily953 totally agree with you! I also went to Sephora today for my birthday gift and got same…nothing available. We then discussed my getting more rewards points instead and the cashier said she couldn’t do it, that I’d have to do it myself online. What she neglected to tell me was that I needed to spend more money than I already did at Sephora this afternoon to get them. So disappointed!
