Bad Service/Didn’t enter my email

I had gone to the Sephora in Somerset (2800 W Big Beaver Road, Troy MI) and bought an item that was on sale on September 30 at 2:20pm. When I was checking out, I told the cashier my beauty insider email to enter, since I know I always lose my receipts. She said that my email was entered, and that I would receive points for my purchase. Fast forward two weeks and now I want to return the foundation, as it’s just not working for me. I go to the store to return it, telling them to just look it up on my account as that’s what I expected it to be on. Instead, I’m told that my account shows that no purchases were made that day and I also didn’t get my points for that purchase either. I purchased this item with a Sephora gift card, so I have no way to show proof of purchase to return it. Currently looking for my receipt right now but I don’t think I have it, because I was told that this purchase was recorded on my account so I wouldn’t need my receipt in case I wanted to return this product. So big shout out to whoever pretended to enter my account info when they clearly didn’t—now I’m stuck trying to find the paper copy of the receipt. Is there any other way I can return this product without it??
