Another gift card SCAM at Sephora

Like SO many of you, my daughter received gift cards for her birthday and all of them, besides one that was purchased in store, are totally useless and drained to zero. This is so disappointing! You NEED to make your gift cards more secure or stop selling them at grocery stores, pharmacies, etc. It seems like you ultimately don't care about your customers because you are getting your money whether it goes to who it was intended to go to or not. Who is ultimately responsible for this mess. Boycott Sephora until they fix this huge problem for their customers.

Sephora does nothing! I was on the phone all day with Sephora customer service and Sephora giftcard customer service only to be told that giftcard are treated as cash and cannot be replaced of stolen or lost. Well my card was not stolen or lost the numbers were probably run in a large database until they worked for someone. Also 3 attempts at a purchase were made with this giftcard and were reversed until they worked the first time. That’s what the Sephora rep told me. Can I attempt to pay with cash In Sephora store only for the cashier to refuse to accept my money 3 times but give up and accept it the 4th time? Obviously not! Every purchase can be tracked and traced using method of payment. Sephora just refuses to get IT involved when their customers are scammed.

We just ran into the same issue. We gave our daughter’s tween friend a gift card as girls this age love Sephora. It was completely disheartening to see her face at the register as she passed them 4 different Sephora card birthday presents that had zero balance due to this scam.  Her mother called the support number as the line behind us started backing up only to be told that nothing can be done , gift cards are cash.  My heart broke when the girls sweet face asked her mom , “Does this mean I can’t get this ?”  There is obviously a breach . How many people have to fall victim to this before it’s fixed .

Customer service reached out after this post and said there isn’t anything they can do as gift cards are treated as cash. No investigation can be done. They recommended to reach out to the credit card bank to see what they can do .
