ABH matte liquid lipstick in Dirty Rose

I purchased the above said item during the Rouge sale and have used it once. I noticed a vague sour smell but I liked the color so much that I didnt pay much attention to it. Today I tried to use it the second time and the smell became really strong. It smells like vinegar. I took it to the Sephora store, wanting to exchange to a new one however, the new one smelled as bad. The Sephora staff said it is normal as all ABH liquid lipstick smells like that. I didn't exchange it as they are the same. I really really like this product but I can't force myself to use it. Is there anything you could help me with? Thanks.
