$10 off $50 Coupon - In store purchase

I made an in store purchase on Nov 11. i saw that people recieved cards for a $10 off $50 i assumed it was just a notice for the coupon that always comes out in Decemeber. However I just learned it was a unique coupon code. Can somebody please help me out? Was it just limited quantities and I was unlucky and didn't recieve one? Thank you!
