Help!Hair!

My hair is curly. I always have to use tons of moose or gel to tame it and control the frizz, which makes  my hair very hard and brittle. I want to use a product that will lock in my curls but give my hair a more softer look and feel. Any suggestions???

Re: Help!Hair!

My holy grail product is the OGX Moroccan Curling Perfection Defining Cream. They don't have it at Sephora, but it is at Ulta, and it's just $8. I've been using for the past 4 years or so and it's the best product for curly hair I've ever used. I run a dollop through my hair when it's wet after a shower, squeeze my hair up, and go about my day. When my hair dries, my curls are defined and soft, with minimal frizz. One bottle lasts me about two months, if I wear my hair down every other day. Basically, I can't recommend it enough.

Re: Help!Hair!

@Anonymous I think there are a lot of great suggestions here!  I would also add that you might want to read Lorraine Massey's book, "Curly Girl;" she's the creator of DevaCurl.  I thought it was helpful.

As for fighting frizz, I recently discovered Living Proof's Humidity Shield and was surprised by how well it works.  It's not a miracle, but it sure helped me on some hard days.

Best wishes!

Re: Help!Hair!

Hi!  I am LOVING the Briogeo Curl Charisma Creme (creme, not gel) for my naturally curly hair.  I apply it to my wet hair at night and then lightly scrunch in the morning and it keeps my curls light and bouncy without the "crunch" and with very minimal effort on my part.

Re: Help!Hair!

What you need is a moisture "sandwich". I agree with the deva curl suggestions BUT here are some product suggestions that may change your curl life.

1. Start with a leave in conditioner like b-leave in

2. Use a small amount of "heaven in hair" it's a deep conditioner but also a lovely styler (there's no protein in it so no drying effect)

3. Use an anti frizz serum like Moroccan oil (deva curl has one too...I've only tried a sample size though so I can't remember the name off hand)

Step one and two on wet or damp hair step 3 after it's dried... there are many different curl defining techniques you can try if scrunching your hair creates frizz... try coiling your hair (twirling your curls around your finger with defining gel).

no more moose... it's drying by effect only use it when you're setting your hair with rollers or something along with a moisture base (leave in conditioner may change your curls life!)

Re: Help!Hair!

Anything from the brand DevaCurl is amazing, I as well as my entire family have curly hair and I am devoted to this brand, I use it all the time.

RE: Help!Hair!

brands i use for my hair are deva curl no poo shampoo and orginal conditioner along with some of their gels and creams for the hair but you apply them while your hair is still wet. works great for me ! you can get the sample sizes at ulta in the haircare isle.

Re: Help!Hair!

Are you scrunching out the crunch once your hair is fully dry? Most gels and mousses will dry into a "cast" around the hair. This is good while the hair is drying as it helps prevent frizz and slows the curl to hold it's shape. After the hair is fully dry you can scrunch the hair to break the cast, and your hair should be nice and soft. I scrunch out the crunch with my hair flipped upside down, scrunching from the ends pressing up to my roots. This prevents crown frizz and adds volume.

RE: Help!Hair!

Hello, my hair gets a little bit frizzy in the back. This is what I do when that occurs using the L.O.C method which is leave in, oil & curling cream. This has been helping me out, and if i do feel any frizz I apply more leave in. Hope this helps you out.
