Non flaky gel

I'm looking for a non flaky, long lasting gel. My go to gel was eco style gel. Loved the product it just gave me headaches. What are yall using?

Non flaky gel

I find that aloe vera gel doesn't flake or crunch. Alcohol free brands like Fruit of the Earth make my hair nice and bouncy. I have 2B texture hair so I don't need a strong hold.

@Trissy09 @Frizz Ease clearly defined styling gel and Bumble and bumble Gel

Re: Non flaky gel

@Trissy09 I'm not a big fan of gels, but I recently tried adwoa beauty Baomint™ Moisturizing Curl Defining Gel  on my kinky coily hair and you know what, it wasn't bad! It elongated my coils because I didn't scrunch after running the product through them. (Oops. 🤣I'm so used to not using gels, I forgot how they often stretch my coils.) But I kept that stretched curl definition for 6 days. I don't recall lots of flaking in the process.

Two cons about this product:

  1. It's strongly scented. It smells mostly like coconuts, peppermint, lavender, and rosemary. The smell dies down after 24 hours of wear, but if you're sensitive to fragrances/scents, this gel—actually, this entire product line—might not be for you.
  2. It contains some ingredients my face absolutely hates: lavender oil, 3 mint oils, and rosemary oil. If your skin also hates those essential oils, you'll need to try keeping this stuff off your face during application. When I used it, I had to keep my hair from directly touching my face until my face-framing coils were completely dry. (Luckily that didn't take long, since that section of my hair is high porosity.) Also had to avoid touching my face until I'd thoroughly washed my hands after applying this gel. I didn't get any bad scalp reactions, thank goodness.

This gel looks more like a jiggly cream in the jar. A little product goes a very long way. It didn't make my hair super crunchy but there was definitely some hold action. It allowed motion, though. (My hair is mid-back length when wet. Elongated with this gel, it shrunk to shoulder-draping length.) I've only used it once so far, so I'll try it again sometime soon—and hopefully remember to scrunch this time.

Re: Non flaky gel

Wow thank you so much for your feedback. I am ordering it now and I'll let you know how it goes for me.
