Curly or not?

Whenever my hair is wet, it's curly/wavy, but then I brush it or leave it overnight (no products) and it gets straight. Is my hair actually curly and I'm not using the right techniques/products?

You have curly hair! Try drying with a diffuser after applying a light gel or mousse. Scrunch sections of your hair as you dry. Let us know!

Do you blow dry or heat style your hair? I noticed that my hair becomes straight when I do that.

To test your hair type I recommend washing your hair with just shampoo and conditioner, and not drying it. Wait until it drys and look at the curl pattern. 
if it is pin straight, c shaped, or kind of spaghetti (dry or cooked) looking, it is straight.

If it is S shaped, it is wavy.

It is curly if it is curved or spiraled. 

if it is a helix type pattern, it is coily.
Of course everyone’s hair is different, and these are just rough definitions.
