Red nose- new problem

Help please- i know this is a two-part post, one to cover the red and the other to help the redness with skincare products. I have been working to find the solution for a while.

i have a red nose that i cant seem to cover up with make up- i have great skin care regimen- cleanse tone, treat, moisturize, and SPF all medical grade skin care from Dermalogica to PCA-

To cover my nose i have tried eye shadow primer, regular primer, no primer, Chanel concealer, Este lauder concealer, no concealer, Foundations like Este lauder double wear, Tower 28 SunnyDays, tried three setting powders- i am just not sure what to do next.

Re: Red nose- new problem

Welcome to BIC, @JennaMarieB ! I’ll second @CynthieLu‘s suggestion of seeing a dermatologist or your primary care doctor to get your skin diagnosed. I mean, unless you already know you have a certain skin condition that causes redness. For instance, dermatologists like to recommend azelaic acid for rosacea and some other conditions with redness as a symptom. That’s what I use primarily for my redness and it helps a lot. Do you already use something that contains at least 10% of that ingredient?

It’s also possible one or more of your current skincare products are irritating your skin and causing more redness. Example: I can’t use Dermalogica’s products because most of ‘em contain essential oils that worsen my redness and damage my skin barrier. That’s just my particular reactive/inflammation-prone skin; yours might be fine with essential oils. But you could try easing up on one product at a time for a few weeks and check for noticeable redness improvement. Or, you might be using a certain product too frequently. A usual culprit there is AHA (alpha hydroxy acid: glycolic, lactic, mandelic, etc.), which is best used just 1-3 times a week and never twice on the same day—especially if your skin’s sensitive. But other ingredients can increase redness if your skin can’t tolerate ‘em; which ones depends on your particular skin.

To cover up my redness, I often use Smashbox Photo Finish Correct Anti-Redness Face Primer 1 oz. / 30 mL  (applied only where my skin’s quite red, not my whole face) because it’s a good shade of green for my skin tone. (Most other redness color correctors are too pale/ashy a green for my medium-deep skin.) Note that a color corrector doesn’t need to be super visible on your skin; its goal is to counteract/neutralize, not cover like a concealer. But the longer I treat my redness via skincare, the more my redness fades—which is why I still think you should see a derm or other doc to find out what’s causing your redness and get treatment options for it.

Re: Red nose- new problem

Hi @JennaMarieB now I'm not a doctor but ur skin just looks oily.  I use to have really oily skin and this stuff from Clinique totally saved me . I highly recommend it. CLINIQUE Clarifying Face Lotion 2 Liquid Exfoliator for Dry Combination Skin  u put some on a cotton ball . Rub it on ur face ( oily areas) then wash ur face . Morning and night till ur skin clears up. Stuff was a life Saver. Try it.

Re: Red nose- new problem

First I'd recommend reaching out to your family doctor or dermatologist to get to the bottom of the redness @JennaMarieB, and secondly I want to ask if you've ever tried color correction. Green is good at hiding redness.

There's alot of color correction items out there, I'll tag a few here for examples

SEPHORA COLLECTION Bright Future Color Correctors

tarte maracuja creaseless creamy color corrector Green

Dr. Jart+ Cicapair ™ Tiger Grass Camo Drops Color Corrector SPF 35 1 oz / 30 mL

#Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Sensitive Skin Serum for Redness and Barrier Repair 1.01 oz / 30 ml
