How do I determine what skin type I have?

I'm a little confused by skin type. I've been told I have dry skin, but my skin breaks out easily and is always oily around my nose and chin

I'm an esthetician, and it sounds like you may have combination skin. Many people get oily in the T-zone because of how our pores are slanted in that area. Making sure to always use a moisturizer and exfoliate a few times a week will help with built up dead skin cells. Also, for acne look for a face wash with Salicylic acid, very good for acne. You might have combination skin if you get oily on your nose, chin and/or forehead.

I recommend going to a spa and having an esthetician face map you to determine your skin type. I thought I had oily skin for the longest but in reality it was simply dehydrated.
