I am fortunate, I rarely have breakouts. Not even as a hormonal teenager were breakouts a concern for me. I thought my hormones suddenly decided to rage at 44. Nope! It's NARS foundation. I used NARS Sheer Glow for almost 20 years and never had a problem. It was my holy grail of foundation. I've tried to use it over the last few years (I rarely use foundation since the pandemic) and like clockwork tiny bumps all over my cheeks, forehead, and chin within five hours. It's definitely the foundation because I don't have breakouts otherwise. I'm so sad, almost mad, that Shiseido bought NARS and changed the formula for one of the best foundations ever made. I swear big corporations ruin everything with their cheap ingredients.
I have the same issue...
Finally!!! All these replies have given me such peace! In the last 4 months I have spent TONS of money at the dermatologist trying to figure out why my face is falling apart! In my entire life I’ve had one maybe two blemishes at a time that were a nuisance. But holy cow have I broken out! The white heads in the T-zones. The weird skin texture. The cystic pimples on the chin AND even two to three on my CHEEKS!! WTH!! This has been the most miserable feeling and to read these comments I feel whole again! BYE NARS!!
I used to be able to wear it with no issues , but I think they recently changed the ingredients , and my eyes burn like crazy when I have it on , and I get cystic pimples. I have normal to dry skin , and I never get acne. So I was pretty bummed. Because the colour and the finish are lovely.
Hi!
The NARS radiant creamy concealer is also causing me to break out into small little bumps. One other product that had me break out into similar bumps was Acure's Rejuvenating Whipped Night Cream. I compared their ingredients, and it turns out they both contain "Glycerin" which can cause acne!
I got tiny bumps as well! How did you get rid of them!
Yes. The reason you guys are experiencing this (I did too) is due to the ingredient “tocopherol”. I had a horrible cystic reaction to a vitamin c product containing this ingredient. I hadn’t been wearing make up most of quarantine and the day after I used the concealer had white heads that used to just be common place. I did some digging and it turns out the tocopherol is also in NARS concealer. It’s a great antioxidant if your skin can tolerate but is highly highly pore clogging in many acne prone individuals.
if you are struggling to know which products are causing issues in the future, I recommend looking up your products on insidecoder.com.
So, which foundation would you suggest? have you tried other brands and formula which didnt have this ingredient?
I am facing all sorts of breakout with NARS products and now cant figure out which foundation to buy.
Yes i switched to fenty and my breakouts r gone i have literally tried every brand of makeup and fenty is best !
Yes! I get the exact same reaction! Tiny little whiteheads on my cheeks and jawline! I’ve been wondering what the hell is going on! Being in isolation, I hadn’t worn any foundation and my skin was great, literally the day after I put Sheer Glow on, boom 10 mini pimples in the same area again!!
How did you get rid of the bumps 🥲
I have issues with this foundation too. Its one of the most beautiful foundations I've ever used but I NEVER break out and this had tiny bumps right in my t zone area. Nothing worse then texture pimples. As soon as I stopped using it my skin was better. I'm so bummed now I use the clinique beyond perfecting foundation which is nice but ya know not as glowy and smooth as the Nars. Ah well they need to take the silicones out.
I also recently purchased the nars radiant longwear foundation and I am breaking out in tiny red bumps. It's the only thing I have changed in my routine..time to return! Stinks because it's a great shade match for me.
Yes! I haven't had a problem with pimples for years and since I started using Nars longwear foundation, I've been breaking out with a bunch of small little pimples. I've never broken out with these types of pimples before. Time to switch back to my old foundation, kat von d.
YES. It literally took me five years to figure out what was causing all my cystic acne along my jaw. At first I thought it was hormones, but after doing a hormone panel, nada. Then I eliminated wheat, dairy, alcohol. Nada. I went on so many topical creams and medicines from my dermatologist. Turns out my acne is solely caused by NARS products. In fact, I've switched entirely to Alima Pure Satin Foundation (it's a powder foundation with no silicones and no bismuth oxy-whatever.) Within three days of using it my skin completely healed. It is truly a miracle. Throw your NARS out or at least, try using a mineral foundation for a while. LIFE CHANGING.
YES!! It makes me so sad because NARS Sheer Glow is one of the most beautiful foundations I've found for my skin, but it makes me break out with tiny little whiteheads. I stopped using it for a while and then thought maybe something else had caused the breakouts. But once I started using it again the same thing happened again.
I’m having a real big problem with Narscreamy radiant concealer and basically in the north product I break out really bad. I just try bars stick foundation and it gave me painful cystic acne. I love wearing it so much but it breaks me out so bad. It looks flawless on the skin but it’s not worth what it does it afterwards.
Yes! I just started using the Nars sheer glow and the tinted moisturizer and my skin is not happy at all. I’m breaking out which I never breakout. 😞
I'm pretty sure I also broke out in a few small pimples from the NARS radiant longwear foundation 😞 Their ingredients list doesn't have any particularly acnegenic/ clogging ingredients in it so I have no idea what it is that's causing issues on my skin. Never tried the sheer glow so I don't know about that one.
It does. It’s the tocopherol. It’s highly pore clogging for many individuals. Many other brands treat the tocopherol with acetic acid to avoid this problem. The non pore clogging ingredient is called tocopherol acetate.
