Combination skincare recomendations

My skincare journey started approximately two years ago when I moved to the US. After the first few months here I faced skin problems for the first time in my life. I started to get a lot of acne and post-acne scars. That was a new experience for me because during my whole life living in Europe, my skin rarely broke out and I was never spending a lot of money on my skincare routine. These changes were provoked by a mix of different factors: an enormous amount of processed food that the average American consumes, the new climate zone, and of course the stress I had due to the fast changes in my life.

I couldn't look at myself and was trying to cover everything with the huge layer of makeup (which made my skin condition even worse). I tried a bunch of different Korean skin products after seeing all those popular videos on Instagram. However, nothing was really helpful. I was ready to give up and accept the fact that I would never achieve the clear skin.

Luckily, it wasn't the end of my story. 3 months ago I decided to dig inside the type of my skin and the specific problems I had. I threw away billions of viral skincare products and restarted everything from the new page. Instead of using all actives at the same time, I created a schedule plan and simply became more patient because there was no way to get the desired result overnight.

I stop using foundation and switched to the sunscreen. After few months of these routine I already can see the difference. It was a long and hard process of finding the right non-comedogenic products for combination skin (I didn't want to overdry it, but also due to the oilness of some parts of my face I couldn't use a lot of moisterizers and masks).

In this post I would link the products I am currently in love with.

Morning routine:

1) Facewash: Paula's choice RESIST barrier repair (a lot of you could see these recommendations about not washing the face in the morning. Dear oil/combination skin girls, I would strongly advice you to not skip on morning cleansing, because our skin still need it even in the morning).

2) Toner: Dr. Jart+ Vital Hydra solution, Caudalie vinoclean moisturizing toner - tried both abd cab recommend them

3) Serum/Active: Innisfree green tea hyaluronic serum

4) Sunscreen: Caudalie Brightening daily mineral face sunscreen (i like it for the hot summer time, cause it has really light texture, but for the winter season I would recommend the Relief Sun Organic sunscreen spf 50)

5) I like to add a few drops of Drunk elephant bronzer and illuminating drops - creates a glowing finish and treats skin at the same time.

Night routine:

1) Cleansing oil: Caudalie

2) Facewash: Paula's choice RESIST barrier repair

- Double-cleansing is important, especially for combo, oily, acne-prone skin

2) Toner: same one

3) Serum/Active: the ordinary soothing and barrier support serum (hepls to restor the skin barrier and treats post-acne)

4) Night moisturizer: Tula 24-7 Moisture Hydrating night and day cream/ Paula's choice resist barrier repair moisturizer

This is the basic skincare routine I have right now. In the next post I would tell you more about my favorite skin masks, acne treatment products (for the sensitive skin) and my makeup favorites.

Re: Combination skincare recomendations

Thank you for sharing these @ASavenko 🙏💖 I love hearing about skincare wins! 🥳

I think the The Ordinary Soothing & Barrier Support Serum for Sensitive Skin Hydration 1 oz is so affordable but really a stand up product. 😀
