Another 500 bonus point challenge dropped recently, is anyone diving in for some extra points??
After joining the Challenge our four tasks are:
There is a handy link to How to Play and FAQ right on the challenge page if you have questions. 🧐
I am definitely excited to play along and get some extra points! What about you?
🪙 Are you a points banker or a points spender?
🩷 Do you want to skip this or play along?
🛍️ What did you get or do you need some BIC inspiration?
@CynthieLu I love it that we can get points for recycling! That's an easy one.
So true, it is an easy decision. 😉 @CookieGirl1 It helps the planet and we get a few extra points. Win win! 💙💚
@CynthieLu I save my points until I can redeem them for a rouge reward. I am definitely doing this challenge and will most likely get Skinfix Hydrating Foaming Oil Cleanser with Hyaluronic Acid 6 oz/ 177 mL and dae Fairy Duster Dry Shampoo Powder 1 oz
Adore these choices! I love skinfix and I’ve always wanted to try DAE! I hope you love them ❤️ @faeriegirl
@faeriegirl I love that cleanser! It removes ALL of my makeup without fail. It does leave a slightly oily feel, but my skin is dry so I like that.
@Ispend2much6 My skin has switched from combo to dry so it has been perfect for me!
Those are nice picks @faeriegirl 👌💖
I mostly save up my points too, but.. they released a SK-II reward yesterday and I couldn't resist and picked it up. 😊
@CynthieLu Couple important notes about this challenge:
(I know that info’s stated on the challenge page and popups, but it’s helpful to also point out here. And for offer disclosure purposes, I wish Sephora would’ve put the $25 minimum right on the main offer page instead of making customers click a link to see that important detail.)
Are you a points banker or a points spender? With Sephora’s rewards program, I usually bank just 2500-3000 points and then redeem for $100 Rouge Rewards. I very rarely spend Sephora points on anything else.
Do you want to skip this or play along? I’ll play along, despite the “clean beauty” nonsense. I’m interested in trying Sephora’s recycling program even if it means using the app, and I still consider environmental issues very separate from “clean beauty.” And I always skip a bag in-store anyway (psh, I was doing that long before my city’s bag tax went into effect).
What did you get or do you need some BIC inspiration? I was already planning to restock amika Reset Cleansing Oil 6.7 oz / 200 mL so that’ll be my haircare item. Not sure what my skincare item will be since it has to be “clean beauty” 🙄 and cost at least USD $25. Can’t think of anything I need to restock that meets those 2 requirements. Maybe I’ll take a look at some sunscreens I haven’t tried yet, I dunno.
Also, this task has made me realize how many products are priced at $24 instead of $25.
Thank you for sharing this @WinglessOne it is very informative to know about the minimum amount spent for this challenge. I can relate to the point banker and using points towards a specific reward. I like how this challenge allows for consideration about stocking and restocking needs and about products that may needed to be added to routine. 💕
@WinglessOne thanks i didnt know about the $25 minimum
@CorgiMommy Glad I could help! I think a lot of people will miss the $25 minimum unless the offer page is updated. I found that detail only because my former career included working extensively with my former employer’s attorneys to help make that company’s website compliant with FTC disclosure law. When you frequently deal with lawyers and read so much FTC documentation, you kinda get conditioned to always check offers for “fine print” requirements and judge the legal compliance (or non-compliance) of those offers. 😂 Especially if you have a UX design background like me. I can’t not notice issues like this when I see ‘em.
Thank you for pointing out those specific details @WinglessOne 🙏
I didn't realize there was a min. spend on the challenge items and I didn't see it on the main challenge page either.
I think your right, adding it to the front page would be helpful. Thank you for catching that detail. 🙏
Bag tax? Is that unique to your city/state?
Here we can buy a reusable bag or bring our own but old school plastic bags are gone.
@CynthieLu Yeah, adding the $25 requirement to the main offer (challenge) page would not only help everyone, it might also be more compliant with FTC offer disclosure law. Sephora’s legal team and the FTC need to determine if the average customer would reasonably expect a minimum spend to complete those 2 tasks/offers (the offer is 100 reward points for each task) and would therefore click/tap to find that info. There’s a reason offers in the US that require a minimum spend always (well, almost always) state that $ amount upfront, either inline with the offer text or as an asterisked offer term on the offer page. I’m kinda surprised Sephora’s not doing that here.
Chicago stores still have plastic and paper bags, but each one costs the customer 7¢ to use. Some other cities/villages in Illinois also have a bag tax; I think Northbrook just started a 10¢ bag tax this year. Reusable bags are available to buy all over the place, of course. I always carry a very sturdy Lands End tote bag and keep an extra thinner cloth bag inside. I wish we could get rid of those obnoxious plastic bags here, though some people still reuse them to line small trash cans. Sometimes I forget certain stores, like Ulta, still use plastic bags—and my BOPIS orders always end up in one, so I get charged the bag tax. I can move my treats from the plastic bag to my canvas bag and then ask to have the 7¢ refunded, if I remember to do that.
I wrote a whole reply to this but then I got kicked off, let me try this again. 😅
I think it's worth mentioning this to @TeamBIC about the min spend disclosure for the challenge @WinglessOne and let them know.
I can't speak for other city's or other parts of the country but I know here we've gotten rid of Plastic Bags all together and I really hope it's everywhere around. We have paper bags ( if available ) or buy reusable. And everyone has adjusted really well. We all just carry around reusable bags everywhere we go.
Thanks for this feedback, @WinglessOne and @CynthieLu! We've passed it along to the appropriate team here at Sephora HQ. 🙂
I tried to take some empties back to our Sephora at Kohls, but they weren't set up to receive them, even though when I did a search for a Sephora store on the Beauty Challenge landing page it was one of the choices. Trying to save someone else the trouble.
I'm sorry to hear you hit a road block @Ispend2much6. that sounds frustrating. ☹️
Did they tell you if and when they would be set up to collect the empties? It's sounds like it's part of thier plan eventually if they are listed as a store that participates?
