brow gel for thick brows?

What is the best brow gel for dark, thick eyebrows? Clear gels I've tried tend to leave a white residue (not cute on black brows) and most don't have nearly enough hold--my brow hairs are coarse and have a bit of a curl to them, as my eyebrow lady has observed multiple times ("wow even your eyebrows are curly!!") They tend to do what they want, and I need a gel that will actually hold them in place. Any recommendations from my folks with naturally luscious brows?
