A thread dedicated to Wayne Goss brushes and cosmetics line.
@TraceyEB, thank you so much for posting this. I signed up for the notification when I received the email, but was hoping you'd post something about it.
@itsfi, was just waiting for Wayne to post his "Friday before the launch" video. I adore these shades! Placed my pre-order this afternoon!
My order is in! I emailed the Beautylish Rep three foundations that I wear and the rep suggested Shade 10, which is the one I was leaning towards. The rep would not send me a photo or a swatch of Shade 10, so I confirmed that there is a return policy. Can't wait to try these products!
Hi @TraceyEB, I can't recall if you may have posted about the WG foundation in another thread, but wondering about your thoughts on it.
@itsfi, I'll be greeting FedEx fresh faced on Thursday! Saw your BIC Ambassador notation - hearty congratulations!!! 👏👏
Love it @TraceyEB! Excited for you to get your WG beauties! I almost caved and purchased what I thought might work, but decided it would be a good exercise in patience. Ha! I have a few base products I'd like to finish up so I'll focus on those for the time being. Looking forward to hearing your feedback on the foundation. Some shades have already sold out!
Thank you! 😊
Pricing is listed below. Also, sample cards will not be available, so Beautylish advises contacting their customer service reps to assist with shade matching.
Wayne's IG Live had interesting application tips and tidbits:
When asked what products he is most proud of, he pointed to the foundation and powder in this launch. He reiterated that his line is self-funded and that it can take 2 years to develop a product.
This buyer's guide is posted on Beautylish in support of Wayne's complexion release and today's livestream. The Launch Club app lists a price range of $38-$76 (with $76 likely bundle pricing).
Complexion range revealed: The Luxury Cream Foundation, Poreless Beauty Puff, and Weightless Powder. A launch video is posted and ends with Wayne responding to frequently asked questions. There is no shade matching or price information. Launches Tues, April 19 at 10 am PT/12 pm CT.
The Luxury Cream Foundation has a natural satin finish that can look more dewy with an emollient moisturizer underneath it, or more matte by wearing a matte moisturizer or matte primer. It is designed to smooth the skin and look like skin. It comes in 12 shades (what he could afford to develop). It has a high pigment load (just under 30% pigment), so is full coverage but can be applied from sheer to full coverage depending on the number of layers and how you blend with this product. He advises to use less than you think because it is so pigmented and you can overload the skin with product if you're not careful. He advises using the smooth side of the Poreless Beauty Puff and using firm but gentle pressure in downward strokes, and across on the forehead. He also said to apply it underneath the eyes and on the eyelids. The foundation was tested on people over age 50 to see how the foundation sits on mature skin. The jar contains 1 oz/30 g of product. Can be sheered out mixing with oils or moisturizer. He also demonstrates how you can mix the lightest shade (#12) with your shade match to create a custom concealer and to brighten. Shade 12 is an adjuster shade, or foundation for porcelain skintones.
My note: The formula looks more like Kevyn Aucoin's Foundation Balm or Chanel's Soleil de Tan; it is not a creamier, thicker liquid foundation.
The Poreless Beauty Puff was developed to be used with the foundation. The puff sheers out the product and leaves a smoother, more poreless effect to the skin, more than a beauty blender or brush. He also demonstrates application with a beauty blender and discusses how to use it with a brush. The puff cleans with soap and water. Wayne recommends buying two puffs - one for foundation and one for powder. It comes with a storage pouch to keep in your bag for powdering during the day or for clean transport.
The Weightless Powder is an ultra fine loose powder that has no pigment and sets to a matte finish. Can be applied with a brush or using the velour side of the Poreless Beauty Puff. Wayne again advises to start with less and build up as needed. The powder is designed to set makeup, to prevent it from creasing and to prevent it from being overly oily. It can also tone down extreme shine, including the intensity of highlighters.
Wayne wears shade 9.
@TraceyEB, I’m not sure about this one, mainly because I’m not sure I want to eyeball the color matching. I think I’d be between shades. I may pass on the initial launch of the foundation to wait for more swatches to come out or to see what shade works for some influencers and then wait for the restock to pick it up.
@itsfi, foundation is a tricky product for guessing the right shade. I just posted a buyer's guide that gives some insight but I'd prefer samples to use or free returns if the shade isn't a good match. I might try to shade match via a Beautylish customer service rep and could point them to Charlotte Tilbury foundations that suit my complexion. My best guess right now is Shade 10.
@TraceyEB, samples would definitely be the best way to go. The buyer's guide you posted was helpful - thank you! It confirmed for me that I'd be between shades and if that's the case, I'll pass.
@itsfi, Beautylish confirmed to me that they will not have foundation samples, and said a customer service rep could help match me to a shade, so I will pursue that. Half-step shades could be added in the future if sales goes well, so it may be worth holding until you can see what the shades look like.
@TraceyEB, ooooh!!! More product from WG. 😍 Not complaining but this is a lot of launches for him in such quick succession, yes? I do like complexion products in general so I’m really intrigued by what he has in the queue. And yes 👍🏼 to samples to try. 🤞🏼
@itsfi, yes, you're right, it feels like a quick succession of launches. WG hinted at foundation a little while ago. Foundation is tricky, so I'm definitely curious to see what he launches!
