When asked about blues and greens:
Mermaid colors are definitely going to be one of the trends in 2018. It won't be a five palette, but a new product.
@sister13 I picked it up from the ND website so I could get $ off with points. I like it so far, I've only used it a couple of times. I usually end up buying ND regardless so I can switch up shades. I like this neutral palette since it's warm but not as orange.
Okay, nice! I did like that it wasnโt orangey (except the orangey multichrome) since a lot of warns pull super orange on me. I usually canโt resist her palettes in person but Iโm also truing to stick to a semi low buy, with SEPHORIA and in case of any irresistible holiday releases! @makeitup305
@SportyGirly125 thanks for posting! Interesting
These shades are beautiful Iโve never tried ND buy definatley am gonna try a pallette when I finish my other two, Iโm interested in that multicolored shade very interesting @SportyGirly125
@danielledanielle ND has been playing it pretty safe this year with the palettes, compared to Yucca and Xenon last year as well as previous years. I'm wondering if she's going to do a "I need a cool" before the year ends. I do think comparing her to PMG isn't that fair because she is still very involved with the brand and promoting her products, as well as keeping her packaging consistent and constantly working on new formulas. Eyeshadow palettes just aren't as popular as they used to be and I don't fault her for trying to stick to a more neutral palette. Although nobody needs both, I think the new palettes are different enough from each other and most previous palettes in her lineup. I like INAW because the mattes don't lean as orange as they usually do (like in Bronze).
PMG on the other hand (to me) has really stepped back creatively from her brand and the quality (mostly for the eyeshadow palettes and holiday releases) doesn't appeal to me at all. She released those new quads and barely anyone reviewed it (from the ones I follow).
@makeitup305, r/t Pat. I don't think she's there yet. This is just one release, but I knew that comment/thought would be out there. When I saw it, my initial reaction was
.. "huh, this technically exists in your [ND] portfolio, but ok... What am I missing? People are excited, so I'm in the minority, I'm def missing SOMETHING ..."
You're right about her involvement, but the timing of this release is interesting (vs last Fall when we were swimming in neutrals), maybe the new formulas weren't up to par ๐คท๐ฝโโ๏ธ, especially right after Golden, which I feel leans Neutral.
But with that in mind, I'd also note that not all her her new releases are new new, meaning she has shades that are just so similar to her other palettes in production that the only thing that I would consider is that the quality varies. Like less kickback. But, if I already own a few of the palettes that are closer to this one (for me that's Glam, OG Gold, Mini Glam and Golden, but I'd also would include Biba, Baby Biba, and I Need a Nude if I had them), it's hard for me to actually justify this one. (And I've justified so much at this point ๐) Other releases like Mini Starlette, Mini Rose(?) and the Hyper Face were more interesting, in spite of them not working for me tonal wise Coming onto Sephoria/Holiday release time, this is oddly safe.
@danielledanielle @WinglessOne I do think it's not a need for anyone with a decently sized eyeshadow collection. I'm an ND collector at this point and I always think of her palettes more as a collection of singles rather than just a palette, since I love switching them around. I was mainly attracted to this palette because it's warm but it doesn't lean as orange. ND has always leaned super orange on me. Biba for me was very warm leaning orange, at least on me. Glam was more neutral but only had 2 warm matte shades. The Green-Brown palette had some more neutral warm shades if I recall. Mine is all mixed up with other palettes so I can't compare it. The mattes on the left hand side of the Star palette might be the closest, I have to check. I can post some pictures comparing Biba, Glam, Golden, Star, INAN, and INAW if you like. Some of my shades are mixed around in other palettes so it might not be perfect.
It's release does seem a little too close to the release of Golden to really stand out. Idk if this is her holiday release but maybe INAN did so well at this time last year that she's trying to capitalize on that same market. As makeup items go, it's an easy one to gift, I think. Biba, Star, OG Gold, and Glam have all been out quite for quite a few years at this point to maybe she's trying to appeal to people who weren't in the makeup sphere when those came out. I don't really consider minis very much because I purchase them the least. Plus, I don't think people who buy the minis buy the midis as well (regular consumers not makeup fans) so I don't take into account the overlap in shades very much.
I really hope she keeps releasing more fun palettes. I enjoy her curation of shades and being able to switch them around adds a lot of value to me. A Neon palette from ND would be amazing but idk how well it would sell in the current market. I pretty much expect a I Need a Cool palette soon. Danessa Myricks coming out with that magnetic palette for the holiday made it a very likely purchase instead of a "mostly likely will skip". Something like that from ND would be an immediate buy from me.
@danielledanielle @makeitup305 Itโll be interesting to see folks swatch-compare this new warm nude palette with, say, 28 Green-Brown and Biba. First time I saw it, I thought it looked like those two palettes had a baby (minus the greens). ๐ I still kinda think I can go into that 28-pan and dupe a good chunk of this new palette. Formula upgrades are the only reason Iโd buy this palette, if that 28 didnโt still work well for me (as well as the couple old 5-pans that contain the same browns) and I didnโt have well-performing warm neutrals by other brands. Also, if I had all of Natashaโs palettes, or even 3/4 of โem, Iโd have no need for this new one unless I really wanted new formulas.
Still, I can see why someone relatively new to ND (who doesnโt already have that 28-pan or Biba) would buy this palette. Or someone who doesnโt already have many warm neutrals (including some of Natashaโs older shadows). But Iโm not excited by it. I wanna see it in-store just to play with the new formulas, so Iโll know what to expect if they appear in future palettes. Eh, this could be a good gateway palette for ND that lures new customers. I just hope it doesnโt become a long-running trend for the brand. I canโt have Pat stuck in a pink/rose rut and Natasha stuck in a neutral rut at the same time. ๐ญ (Yes yes, โbut other brands can fill the voidโ and whatnot, but see, ND was one of those other brands for me. Now I have to hope Danessa Myricks keeps working with all the pretty colors; sheโs done a good job balancing that out with her safer Groundwork color stories.)
For all I know, Natasha could drop another palette this year or early next year with a not-neutral color storyโฆ maybe even a full size palette instead of a maxi (or whatever weโre calling the $69 palettes nowadays). Though it seems sheโs stepped away from the full size format in favor of these smaller palettes, which isnโt a bad thing.
@danielledanielle @Not sure. Maybe she is staying with the nude theme.
@SportyGirly125, oh definitely. But, I guess I'm more curious on your thoughts on it, since you're an ND fan as well.
I'm not excited, but I'm in the minority (comment wise it's a hit.) I felt the same way about I need a nude, too (similar to biba and glam). I did go digging to see if anyone asked what I was thinking, which was sort of there. A comparison between Gold and Warm is coming, the palette is supposedly all new shades (with a trichrome.๐๐ฝ) But, there's this:
โ
@danielledanielle I actually really like it. I could see myself using it in combo with ND Golden and Bronze. I like mixing my palettes with others. I rarely stick to using just one palette unless Iโm testing out the palette for the first time.
Beautiful palette
Ooooh โจโจโจ @SportyGirly125
The gloss looks so different from her usual designs... Looks like a totally new product, too
@SportyGirly125 the eye palette looks really pretty!
Gorgeous palettes to look like a goddess
