THE ISAMAYA BEAUTY THREAD

In case anyone is looking for information about this new brand from Isamaya Ffrench, here are some swatches of the Industrial Colour Pigments eyeshadow palette.

The packaging is interesting but the figure that comes out of the lid is huge and would make this quite bulky to travel with. It also prevents the lid from lying completely flat on the table. And whatever type of plastic they used to make it is a dirt and dust magnet, which unfortunately mars the glossy aesthetic a bit.

Re: THE ISAMAYA BEAUTY THREAD

I couldn’t resist Industrial 2.0. Despite my best efforts, the pictures don’t do these justice. They are sooo sparkly in the sun.

Re: THE ISAMAYA BEAUTY THREAD

Ooh thank you for these swatches, @Mochapj, sorry I'm just seeing them now!! I'm so sad I can't get in 🇨🇦

Re: THE ISAMAYA BEAUTY THREAD

@haleyvvvv I’m not certain when but I’ve heard the brand should be available at Holts at some point

Re: THE ISAMAYA BEAUTY THREAD

Thanks for the swatches! They look stunning!

Do you see any dupes for other palettes or colors from other palettes? Dior just launched a new backstage palette in Khaki and it reminds me of a few of the shades from the Industrial.

Re: THE ISAMAYA BEAUTY THREAD

Sorry @BrownBeast I don’t have the Dior palette, so I’m not sure. Some of the shades have a similarity to past ‘special’ shades from Pat McGrath mothership palettes but the textures are a little different

Re: THE ISAMAYA BEAUTY THREAD

Thanks for the swatches @Mochapj . It's such an interesting brand and seems like a cool palette. What do you think so far?

Re: THE ISAMAYA BEAUTY THREAD

@makeitup305  I’ve followed her work for a while. She used to design the extreme range for Tom Ford back when they had extreme eyeshadow singles and whatnot. But definitely one of the most consistent things about her work is a dark/grungy/bondage/alien vibe.

I wasn’t a huge fan of what she did with Byredo (colours yes, but the formulation didn’t work for me at all) so I was curious to see if this would be different or more of the same.

This palette so far seems to have a different formula than her Byredo ones although there is a similarity in terms of the colours she curated. The texture of a lot of the shades is thinner than what I’m used to and definitely not the creamy/slippery/silicone based formula that’s been all the rage for a lot of brands lately. Being thinner, they didn’t swatch very well because I couldn’t get much to pick up on my fingertips. The 2 super glittery shades are quite similar to Pat McGrath type glitters with the very wet, dense feel.

I’ve tried 5 shades today and what I used seems to be working well thus far so it’s already doing better than my Byredo palette did 🤣

Re: THE ISAMAYA BEAUTY THREAD

@Mochapj Thanks so for the info. I didn’t know who she was before this. The color story of the Byredo never appealed to me - sorry you had such a bad experience with it. I love trying new brands, especially when they seem so innovative and different. Hers is a little out of my price range at the moment, but it’s definitely on my radar. I can’t wait to see what else she comes out with. I’m glad you’re enjoying it so far. The eye look you created is really beautiful.

Re: THE ISAMAYA BEAUTY THREAD

Thanks @makeitup305 !

i definitely think she has an interesting perspective on makeup and am curious to see how she fills out the brand.

i was listening to an interview she did on Fat Mascara podcast (thanks @lizjay for turning me on to it!) and she mentioned the next collection will be in October. She mentioned she has a plan to do her releases similar to how they do in couture fashion (3-4x year) and won’t always be based on this BDSM/alien/other aesthetic.

Re: THE ISAMAYA BEAUTY THREAD

@Mochapj that's intriguing. I can't wait to see how the brand develops.
