OLEHENRIKSEN Thread

I've enjoyed several different OLEHENRIKSEN products over the years and have recently been picking up more and more of his skincare goodies. I've also found myself wanting to try more and more from the brand. If you've used OLEHENRIKSEN products, please share your experiences and recommendations!

One of my favorite sunblocks. It's softly whipped consistency gives it a lightweight but creamy feel and makes it easy to apply onto skin. It does a nice job of lightly blurring, softly diminishing the appearnce of redness - the redness on my cheeks doesn't disappear completely but it looks less prominent, noticeable. It brightens my complexion (probably the vitamin C in this helps with that) and the slight tack-to-the-touch makes this a good primer as well.

I know you've been into some of the the Olehenriksen products @Buootiful, including the lip balms. Not sure if you've tried this one or if it would be of interest to you.

Thank you @PrettyPaint; talking about vitamin C on another thread reminded me I meant to post about this sunscreen here a while ago.

OLEHENRIKSEN Banana Bright Mineral Face Sunscreen SPF 30 1.7 oz / 50 mL

Re: OLEHENRIKSEN Thread

@itsfi Thanks for the tag! I wasn't aware of this sunscreen. Do you think this one is ok to get (somewhat) near the eye area? My skin (and eye area particularly) can get a little sensitive.

Re: OLEHENRIKSEN Thread

@PrettyPaint, good question. I'm always a little careful with sunscreen getting too close to my eye. This one is a mineral (zinc oxide) sunblock, which I've found my skin prefers - my eyes get irritated and I experience that blurred vision with many chemical sunscreens, even when I'm careful not to get the chemical SPF near my eye.

I have take this OH one pretty close to my eyes - not right up to the lower lash line, but I've applied it generally where I might dot a color corrector or concealer and have gently blended to the under eye area, coming below the lower lash line.

Here's a screenshot that shows sunscreen application. I've ocassionally taken my sunscreen (mineral ones) even a little higher than the depiction right below the eye area. I make sure to dab/blend outward and not too much more upward.

Re: OLEHENRIKSEN Thread

Thanks so much @itsfi. The visual is very helpful. I have never seen a sunscreen application chart before. That’s good to know it can be applied in the area where concealer is applied. I’ve actually had a bit of a sunburn in that area, and it’s no fun.

Re: OLEHENRIKSEN Thread

Ohhhh, ouch @PrettyPaint! That area is so sensitive; I can't imagine how painful it was to experience a sunburn there.

Newness coming …

Re: OLEHENRIKSEN Thread

I am so in on this one it looks jammed packed of excellent skin benefits! Thanks for starting this thread @itsfi  I love learning about new brands (new to me) 😊

Re: OLEHENRIKSEN Thread

Now this may need a trip to my local Sephora when it comes out.

Re: OLEHENRIKSEN Thread

I've been working through some of the primers in my makeup collection and have been reaching for the OLEHENRIKSEN Banana Bright Face Primer 1 oz/ 30 mL off and on for a couple of months now. It has a soft, almost whipped like consistency, a very faint citrus scent, and a light orange creamsicle tint that melts easily into the skin, adding some brightness and a healthy-looking glow. There's also a self-tanning version in this banana bright line, as well as a fabulous mineral sunblock that has a richer consistency but that can also be used as a primer.

A new shade in the CC eye sticks

Re: OLEHENRIKSEN Thread

@itsfi I don't know how I missed this tag! I am going to check this shade out. I have been debating on getting the banana shade to mix with apricot...maybe this new shade would work 🤔

Re: OLEHENRIKSEN Thread

Thank you @itsfi great timing! This looks like it could be nicely brightening.

Re: OLEHENRIKSEN Thread

@itsfi,

Thank you for starting this Thread!

I have the #Ole Henriksen Strength Trainer Peptide Boost Firming Moisturizer, which I purchased after trying a DE sample.  I like this moisturizer for the drier areas of my face, like my cheeks.  It doesn't just disappear into my skin, feels creamy.  I don't notice the scent.  I think that I would need to use this more consistently before giving a good product review.  I'm still using the sample jar.

In the current Sephora Sale, I purchased the #Ole Henriksen Cold Purge Pore Remedy Moisturizer, which hasn't arrived yet.  I did try a DE sample before making my purchase.  This has Salicylic Acid.  This is for the areas of my skin that are more prone to break out, and it can cause my skin to peel.  I'm still experimenting with this sample jar!  I have tried using it and then taking it off, like a mask. This prevented my skin from peeling and I liked the results.  I also used something calming for skin afterwards, preventatively.

Re: OLEHENRIKSEN Thread

@tsavorite, I'm looking forward to hearing about folks' experiences with OH products. I with ya on the Strength Trainer moisturizer; I'm working my way through the mini version and wow! For a host of reasons, my skin has been super sensitive of late and there's been more than one occasion where my skin barrier has not been happy, and the OLEHENRIKSEN Mini Skin Barrier Strengthening Moisturizer with Peptides and Niacinamide 0.5 oz / 15 m... was the only thing that didn't cause any stinging when I applied it. 💜

Ahhh, that's really good to know about the Cold Plunge moisturizer. I've only ever used the OLEHENRIKSEN Cold Plunge Pore Mask 3 oz/ 90 mL from that line and remember liking it. I'll keep it in mind for the oilier parts of my face. Salicylic acid can be a blessing and a curse for my skin, but the OH moisturizer sounds like one that my lower T-zone might respond well to in the summer months. Making a note of it; thank you! 🗒

Bye, bye dark circles?
from OLEHENRIKSEN directfrom OLEHENRIKSEN direct
I'm typically a no-makeup makeup gal and have been loving the rise of skincare-makeup hybrid products, so when I saw that Ole Henriksen had released the Vitamin CC eye stick, I knew I wanted to give this part concealer, part eye cream stick a try. Timing worked out well too as I was noticing dark circles under my eyes more often and there were more and more occasions when they were darker than usual.

I love that these eye sticks go on in a single swipe and blend easily. Most days, the Banana shade is a good match for my fair-to-light complected skin, with and without using a separate concealer. The shade Apricot comes in handy when the darkness under my eyes is deeper; but unlike the Banana shade, I definitely need to use a separate concealer atop Apricot. These eye sticks have come in handy, for both the discoloration under my eyes and other areas on my face. The tube/stick packaging makes it convenient for travel - I can drop it in my handbag and the bright color of the cap makes it easy to find.

@Sunnysmom @Mellmars1185, if my memory is on point, you picked up these eye sticks? Would love to hear your thoughts, and anyone else's I forgot (inadvertently) to tag.

Re: OLEHENRIKSEN Thread

@itsfi Thank you for the tag and great memory! I wanted to use the  OLEHENRIKSEN Banana Bright+ Vitamin CC Eye Sticks for Dark Circles Apricot in apricot. I do find it a little dark to wear without a concealer over top. However I have read some feedback on BICabout mixing banana amd apricot together. I do like how it feels under my eyes. I find it does make a smooth base for concealer. The only thing is I rarely wear concealer.

Re: OLEHENRIKSEN Thread

@itsfi I ended up buying it during the sale .

First I accidentally bought the shade OLEHENRIKSEN Banana Bright+ Vitamin CC Eye Sticks for Dark Circles Pumpkin in Banana and that was way too light for me and looked super chalky. I exchanged it for Apricot which is a better match.

I was definitely pleasantly surprised at how smooth it is to apply. Some stick products can pull a lot of the under eyes. On the other hand I don’t think this does had much correcting as some other products. Still, it’s a good option for me to just throw on for errands or something

Re: OLEHENRIKSEN Thread

Great thread @itsfi ! Yes! I think I tried it right after you mentioned it to us if memory serves! 😊 I enjoy Banana ( of course I do lol) the most as it does seem to be more opaque for me tho I need to also add a light concealer over it. Grr. My dark circles are real, worse lately even. I couldn’t make Apricot work me sadly as usually I need a shade like this to get the job done and it does seem to be a bit more sheer.  Banana must be more in the middle for me. I’m really glad for this stick as I love the moisturizing aspect to it. Man my eyes are dry these days! Crazy allergies don’t help I imagine. (I’ve found MILK MAKEUP Future Fluid Creamy Longwear Hydrating Concealer with Hyaluronic Acid 7NW Bobbi Brown Skin Color Corrector Stick Light Bisque (won’t tag Bisque oddly) IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Dark Spots Concealer + Serum with Niacinamide & Hyaluronic Acid Light Neutral 2... TOM FORD Traceless Soft Matte Concealer 2N0 Crème #and Chantecaille stick to be the best for me in tandem with Banana Ole ). Apricot looks like it works well for you. Nice.

I also like Strength Trainer and really loved a few products that are sadly gone! Eye and moisturizer. 😭
