MAC x Lisa Frank?????

@greeneyedgirl107  This Ulta (Michigan Ave, Chicago) has a large MAC section. It’s kinda like a smaller MAC store inside an Ulta. There’s also a standalone MAC store right up the street, and our Nordstrom (with a MAC counter) sits between them. Too much temptation! 😂 

Anyway, this Ulta has the full Love Me line. I probably could’ve gone to the MAC store and gotten early access to all the testers. I saw the whole Aladdin collection pre-launch that way, but didn’t have time that day to play with testers and take photos for this thread. I’ll try to do that next time MAC announces a new collection/line that interests me.

@WinglessOne Wow!  Now I'm doubly envious!  You are right about that being a lot of temptation.  I guess it's a double-edged sword.

Now that my Ulta has MAC, I've been more interested in their lipsticks.  The only thing is that the MAC lighted mirrors inside Ulta are just so perfect that I feel like it skews how they look IRL.  I think in the future I'll have to walk around the store and examine the shades in various mirrors when I try on lipstick.  I already do that at Sephora, so I guess it'll be no different.  Have you noticed anything like that, or am I just being weird?

@greeneyedgirl107  Nope, that’s not weird. 🙂 I notice that about every brand’s makeup: to see how anything truly looks, I need to see it in natural daylight. Even a daylight setting on an LED mirror doesn’t cut it for me. (That setting’s always too golden-hour warm. 😂) At most Ultas and Sephoras here, I swatch things and then walk over to the windows for color checks. 

What might help is swatching a new-to-you lipstick against a shade you’re familiar with. If I’m in a store that has no exterior windows, or I’m there after sunset, I do those comparison swatches to get an idea of how shades will truly look. For lipsticks, I usually check the store for a NARS or MAC (or any other brand, but those are my first go-tos) shade I know and love that’s in the same color family as the one I’m considering. I can see how store lighting skews the shade I already know, which helps me determine how the new-to-me shade’s being skewed—and how it’d really look in daylight.

Pretty on you @WinglessOne but a bummer for sure. You are right, their baby. Lol lol. They still need a semi matte! Grrr. Or bring Liptensity back!

Some swatches of new Mac lips. I like them and while smooth , decent pigment and good shades I wouldn’t call them a substitute for Liptensity. More like a more intense satin. Maison Rouge and E for Effortless my favs so far.

@Sunnysmom Thanks for the swatches! I agree, they aren't direct substitutes for Liptensity, which I use the change the shade colour of certain lipsticks.

Nope 😞 @TraceyEB. I do hope they still do another semi matte or something to replace those. Maybe not that heavy but more than new. That’s a good idea too you mentioned to change colors thanks! 🤗😘

Thank you for the swatches @Sunnysmom ❤️ I like the Nine Lives.  I ended up with Let Them Eat Cake, D for Danger and Heroine.  I love the new ones they are so creamy and great pigment.  I never tried the liptensity to have a comparison.  Love Madison Rouge came sooo close to buying it.

Maison Rouge is gorgeous, and I can’t stop staring at Nine Lives. 😍 You’re the 4th person I’ve heard describe these as basically “good, but not Liptensity.” They kinda remind me of the Amplified line... kinda like Amplified with more skin-loving emollients, I guess.

Those are all gorgeous 😍😍😍 If the formula isn't outstanding though, I'm gonna have to repeat "I can dupe those shades already" over and over to save my wallet a little grief lol. I'll probably cave and grab at least one at some point though, to check them out for myself. New lippies are still my biggest weakness 😋

Ha I hear u @WinglessOne! Maybe! I have some of those also and these are more pigmented and a dot less slick I think. (Real science stuff going on here...😳🤣) Can’t wait until you try and give your opinion too!
