O-M-G!!!! I just read that MAC signed a contract to be in ULTA!  I don't know if it's true. Will research it... I never thought they would go that route and if they did I for sure thought Sephora would carry the brand.

ETA: Looks like Sephora has first dibs and passed.... WHAT???? WHY!!!!!!  Going to dig more.

WHAT!?!?!? OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!  I never thought this would happen, given the stand alone stores. I just figured it would never happen. I'm so friggin excited!

Omg! Omg! Omg! I'm so excited!!! I love Mac and I'm going to be so happy if this is true as I have been going to ulta more and more as opposed to Sephora.

No friggin way! I absolutely LOVE MAC but Ulta is beneath them tbh. I don't mean that to be snobby, but MAC is a brand for pros...and Ulta is consistently understaffed, unknowledgable employees, products opened & used, new items out of stock, etc. And don't even get me started on the shipping lol. MAC having its own store with working artists makes them unique. The way Sephora keeps rotating brands in and out, that probably would've been a waste anyway.

The only way I can see it working is if they have a counter like the Benefits Beauty Bar.

Maybe they will just have a kiosk with a few products like Dior does with their mascaras at Ulta.

Yeah I kinda agree @JayJayyy Ulta is very convenient and gets the job done but does not at all have the artistry, professionalism and cool factor that MAC does...

@JayJayyy  yeah those are some of the reasons why I thought big stores like Sephora and Ulta wouldn't carry the brand. The MAC staff is always in training and up to date. The hiring process is different from other counters I think.  I've seen a lot of different things/changes from MAC in the past 2 years or so.  I don't know if they changed some high ups or what but it does have a different feel...

Mm, I can see why Sephora may pass on MAC. They have a much larger product selection, and MAC also has a very large product selection. I think it would be hard to decide what from the line to carry. MAC also has a ton of limited edition and random collections, and Sephora may not want to deal with the turnover. Ulta doesn't have as much, and it seems they've been trying to expand their brands. And, just like with MAC, they change their marketing up a lot. They seem to do a complete overhaul every few months. Sephora keeps it a little more consistent.

Makes sense... but still. I never ever thought they'd be sold in those types of stores because they are such a large brand... and if they were I thought Sephora would carry it. Its seems they've been reducing the amounts of collections as well. Maybe not by much but it's not jam packed like before.  Anyways I just have that info at the moment... Can't confirm 100% it's true.
