There is a line that has buried itself in my heart (and my pocketbook), and it is Guerlain. I know Im not the only one out there. I thought I would start this thread for the discussion of all things Guerlain, skin care, makeup, perfume, places to get good gwp or good samples. Experiences people have had, looks people have created with the products.
For me it all started with a makeover by Guerlain's own Marie Line at my local Neiman Marcus. She spent an hour with me and I left feeling calm and happy.
As a mother of 4 year old twins and as a doctor I spend my live rushing through the day, often without enough sleep, more often without enough water, taking care of everyone else. It shows on my face, in the fatigue in my eyes, in the puffiness and dark circles under them. While I have been blessed with good skin it can be confused, aging (I bought my guerlain the day prior to my 40th birthday), but still with an oily t zone, and with patchy dry spots on my cheeks likely from the dry air in my medical work environment. One of the things she said to me was- make it about a ritual for you, and dont leave it until your going to fall asleep. I walked out with the orchidee imperiele gel cream, eye and lip cream and white/brightenining serum. It was a birthday gift to myself. And now every night I sit down for 15 minutes and wash my face and slowly carry through the ritual. a ritual of energy expended and renewed. Breathing in the soft smell of the orchids. Im still using a cleanser and exfoliator from another line given how much I spent, but I have seen substantial change in my face in the 3 weeks since.
so thats my story, and I would love to share a discussion with other lovers of Guerlain, especially as we eagerly anticipate the 2015 holiday collection.
One of my YouTuber beauty gurus tested out this foundation in a video and me want lol 😛
Another swatch of the spring highlighter
@shimmerbait I posted a preview of that about a month back.
the price is due to the container being a handmade porcelain and you are right, they are the shade Clair. It’s supposedly part of their 190th anniversary collection.
@shimmerbait agree!
I'm actually surprised they're even available in the US. I'd contacted the flagship in Paris back when I first saw the preview on their IG because I was curious. At the time they told me they were only going to be available to purchase from the flagship at around that price plus a 60 euro shipping fee, LOL.
I think they could've gone a much nicer route with the included perles but I guess they think the primary buyers of a super luxury product like this is on the paler side 😞
Swatches of the spring lipsticks
New foundation
wow what a unique bottle
So happy that I replaced my Electric Pearls today. I picked them up in store at Nordstrom (I checked in store to make sure they were whole) and returned the ones at Sephora. I'm glad I got to add those to my collection 🙂
Thanks @Luvstravel 🙂 I'm super delicate when using my makeup and I just couldn't take it haha What's the point in buying luxe if it doesn't feel that way? Hopefully Guerlain stops being stingy and goes back to the puff. Maybe they'll add more product while they're at it 😉
So, I managed to pick up the Electric Pearls during the sale and they arrived today. Mochapj had warned that they didn't come with a puff but since they were online only I decided to risk it. Big mistake. Did anybody else’s come this effed up? I'm torn as to whether or not to return them I'm so ticked. it annoys me to no end to pay for a "luxury” item and have it come looking like this.
@makeitup305 that's about as crushed as mine arrived, too.
On the one hand, you're going to be using it as dust when you wear it anyway, but on the other, I totally get being enraged by a luxury product in this condition.
Them making it online only when it doesn't have the sponge seems like a particularly stupid decision.
@Mochapj sorry about yours too 😕 I know it's technically powder but I usually gently break my pearls by shaking the tin a bit and don't use too much. I'm really delicate when using my makeup that it just rubs me the wrong way to see them all messed up.
@makeitup305, mine came broken too (might be not that bad). I'll take picture if i remember. It's sparkly but somehow i quite like it. 😉 It reminds me of the Du Dragon balls years ago (which is not that sparkly).
@blackkitty2014 I haven't had a chance to wear it on my face but I did on one hand and felt it looked like I had a golden sheen which is what I dream of. It sucks because I can't even exchange them (they're not in stock at Sephora anymore) and even if I could they'd still probably look like that. I might try buying them in store at Nordstrom, too bad about the discount 😞
This is how much mine look. I bought this during F&F. This is after I used the crushed powder after 2-3 times so yes it was a lil bit worse before
