scalp

hi guys! i’m looking for something that will make my hair grow. i have naturally curly hair and it is very thick, but i am constantly straightening it almost every day, curling it, pretty much any hot tool you can think of i do it! 😅 so today i noticed at the back of my scalp there’s a huge hole and it’s pretty noticeable. i’m not sure if this is normal; but i’m just curious if there’s anything that could help the spot go down. thank you!

Re: scalp

This is important: before you start investing on any regrowth hair products see a Dermatologist first.  It is best to get a Physician to diagnose your hairloss.  There may be other issues happening that can cause this condition.  Be very careful testing things without knowing how your scalp and body will reapond.  I understand your frustration, please be careful.

Re: scalp

Hi @scalp ! Here in the US, the only topical ingredient approved by the FDA to treat hair loss is minoxidil. That’s the active ingredient in Rogaine, which I think still comes in 2% and 5% strengths. You might be able to find less expensive generic or store brand minoxidil products to apply on your scalp, depending on where you live. There’s lots of buzz about rosemary oil helping to stimulate hair growth, but I can’t say whether or not it really works since there’s not much scientific research on it yet. Minoxidil is the reliably studied and FDA-approved ingredient.

You may want to see a dermatologist or primary care doctor about your bald spot, if you can. It’s possible you have a type of alopecia from pulling at your hair too hard, or perhaps putting it up too tightly in ponytails/buns/etc.; minoxidil might be able to treat that. Or your hair loss might be due to a different underlying condition that needs different treatment. If it is alopecia, a doctor can recommend more options like red light therapy (red LED treatment) and possibly oral meds.

I hope you find something that works for you!
