help!

i bleached my hair and it messed it up about a year and a half ago and since then i bought products to try to fix my hair to be more exact “repairing” shampoos i bought amika the kure&  olaplex then i bought hair masks too amika soulfood & shea moisture intense hydration hair mask !!!!! i thought it was my hair so i cut my hair in between using amika and olaplex but my hair got damaged again and i dont straighten my hair or apply any sort of heat that may damage it! DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT IT MAY BE. my hair doesnt have split ends but its brittle and its always so tangled even when i untangle it 10 sec later it’s tangled again!!! and so frizzy!!!! HELPPP

Re: help!

@stephanieJglz  Dont use conditioner in the shower.  Replace it with hair masks every time.  Leave in conditioner (the watery spray type and not the heavy creams) is your best buddy straight out of the shower and then use a light oil four inches from your scalp and down while wet to seal in as much moisture as possible.
If it’s that brittle it’s not repairable but you can try to maintain it and conceal the damage with leave in conditioner and oils.  It’s tangling because it’s ultra damaged and porous which makes the hairs grab one another like Velcro with their open cuticles.  A thicker hair oil at the ends won’t fix the hair but will coat over the cuticle edges and make them less inclined to grab onto other hairs.

Interesting. That was a smear campaign created by a disgruntled ex-olaplex employee that it causes breakage, and the rumour spread like wildfire.
While No.4 and 5 are not the end all to be all, there is no ingredient in any of their products remotely possible of causing breaking/hair loss.
It’s kind of like someone (not you) saw how the Deva Curl fiasco played out and took some notes, the power of suggestion is incredible.

@co123

You’re correct, Numbers 0, 1, 2, 3 do not contain protein. I am certified in Olaplex. The amount of protein in 4 and 5 is very minuscule. They have never said 4 and 5 did not contain protein. They contain hydrolyzed vegetable protein which cannot build up on the hair. I am not affiliated with them either, just a hairstylist.

Re: help!

@stephanieJglz   To be clear, your hair has been cut above where it was bleached and it’s virgin hair, or was it cut shorter and you’re still caring for severely bleached hair?
Brittle unprocessed hair can be a sign of protein overload.  Protein is great for damaged hair but it’s easy to overdo it with so many hair products containing protein.   too much protein prevents your hair from absorbing moisture causing it to dry out, becoming  brittle and breaking off.

If you suspect you’ve overloaded your hair with protein it’s suggested you use a clarifying shampoo so water can again reach your cuticle and to put a halt to products with protein for a while

These are ingredients or offenders that could be overloading your hair which you should attempt to avoid until your hair is clarified and hydrated for a couple weeks. You can then use them intermittently between hydrating products once your hair has recovered cause your hair needs that hydration protein balance.
