exfoliating vs clarifying shampoo

Hi! I have been wondering what is the difference between exfoliating and clarifying shampoos? do you need both in your haie care routine or one would do and which one? any suggestions?

Exfoliating shampoo is geared towards the scalp. It is meant to be used as a perscriptive shampoo to slough away dry patches on your scalp. 

Clarifying shampoo is meant to remove buildup on the hair and mildly on the scalp; build up can be from non water soluble hair products, sweat, oil.
