SlipSilk Pillowcase

I just purchased a SlipSilk pillowcase and I LOVE it! I am wondering if any other users can tell me how often they wash their silk pillowcases and with what detergent? The instructions say that it should last longer between washes than cotton pillowcases- and also mention that by using the wrong detergent you can damage your pillowcase in literally one wash. Anybody have any advice for detergents that have worked well?

RE: SlipSilk Pillowcase

I have purchased the exact pillow case! I love it. I wash my once a week. I use detergent that is formulated for lingerie. The material of our pillow case is made from many of the same materials as lingerie! I hand wash mine (I googled how to, because it helps to learn ‘visually’).

Re: SlipSilk Pillowcase

@JNadeau I have several silk pillow cases that i rotate out when it is time to wash Because one of them has directions so specific it takes a long long time to wash and dry (air dry), so i need a back up to use while it is out of commission. Here is how i wash the crazy high maintenance one (it is not a Slip):

  • it is hand wash only, specifically says do not put in washing machine.
  • it is recommended to wash in the sink with baby wash or a gentle shampoo
  • you may add a gentle fabric softener if desired, but it must be rinsed thoroughly or the pillow case dries uneven and will get crunchy
  • the instructions say not to wring out but i have before and i didn't have an issue
  • it must flat dry in an area where it will not get sun or it may discolor

This case is very very thin and is 100% mulberry silk, which is why it has crazy directions.

And on the opposite end of the spectrum here are the instructions for the other two silk cases i have(also not Slip):

  • machine wash on delicate with like colors
  • the detergent i use is Tide PureClean plant based, fabric softener is Ms. Myers Clean Day.
  • Tumble dry on low.

these are a satin weave silk so they are a little more sturdy

I really hope this helps you!
